Steady growth of region’s airports...

...inspire confidence among industry vendors.
With more than AED 220 billion worth of airport development projects estimated to be underway across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region, vendors of services and equipment for the airport sector have reason to be optimistic about the future. At least 39 airports are either under construction or undergoing modernization, across the region and the Airport Show in Dubai offers a hive of business opportunities for suppliers across the value chain.

Paul Griffiths, Dubai Airports CEO, speaking at the Airport Show 2009, said: "Our investment plans continue to be confident and robust.  While global aviation growth rates have slowed to less than two per cent, the Middle East region is clocking minimal growth rates of seven per cent. Dubai is surpassing both the world and the region", Dubai Airports CEO Griffiths said, "with growth rates between 9 and 19 per cent."

“We are not expecting double-digit growth rates throughout 2009, but are confident to regain those in 2010,” Griffiths added."

“The Middle East is forging ahead, and within the next few years the collective capacity of airports in the region will reach 400 million passengers, with Dubai constituting 50 per cent of the total.”

The German Pavilion – this year with 24 participants - was again the most attractive and largest on the show among 210 national and international exhibitors. The German exhibitors considered more than 45% of the visitors as good and 36% as sufficient. The organizer counted 2349 visitors including 43 hosted buyers from 12 countries.

In the worldwide recession of the industry, the Dubai Airport Show has emerged as one of the leading events for airport technology in the Middle East.
